:Heals me by filling my inner self through the crushing, but looks transparently and clearly at the wounds in it
Artwork Description – The First Story: "Filling"
This is the first story, “Filling,” born from a personal search for questions and a longing to find answers. It expresses indescribable psychological oppression through the physical sensation of being crushed.
Through emptiness in life and the pressure that weighs down on us, I seek to fill that space not with conventional beauty, but with a different perspective—through abstraction and unconventional forms. This act of filling is not merely physical; it continues as a thirst and a question directed inward. In the spaces that remain unfilled, I keep asking: “What is it that I truly want to fill this with?” What matters is not just the act of filling, but the deep understanding of what we are trying to fill.
All the works are pressed, crushed, and distorted. Sometimes, the transformed materiality gives the appearance of painting. These works are part of my ongoing exploration of ways to bring out my inner world and communicate with the outside.
They are visualizations of the emotions I carry in my daily life and within myself. Viewers may see distorted reflections of themselves, depending on the lighting or viewing angle—as if each piece becomes a small window. Through scratching and processing the metallic material, I leave visible traces of thought and contemplation.
Though the narrative may seem heavy, my goal is to express a spectrum of emotions by layering brighter feelings on top—so that anyone can find hope or happiness through these works. Even within my own process, I try to cover the traces of struggle with colors of hope and joy.
(짓눌림을 통해 내면을 채움으로써 나를 치유하지만 그안의 상처를 투명하고 분명하게 바라본다
스스로 문제를 찾아 갈망하며 채운, 첫 번째 이야기 ‘채움’이다. 설명할 수 없는 심리적 억압을 짓눌림으로 표현했다. 삶을 위한 비움과 짓눌림으로 인한 공간을 다른 시각의 ‘美’와 추상(비정형화)으로 채우고 있다. 미처 채워지지 못한 공간에는 채우려는 것이 무엇인지 계속해서 갈증과 질문을 던진다. 중요한 것은 채우려는 것이 무엇인지에 대한 이해다. 작품들은 전부 짓눌려 있고 찌그러트려 재료의 물성이 어떨때는 회화처럼 보이기도 하지만 저의 내면을 끄집어내 세상과 소통하는 방식에 대해 연구 하고 있는 중입니다.
일상생활에 혹은 저의 내면에 대해 평소 갖고 있던 마음들을 표현하여 형상화 한 작업을 하고있습니다. 관객들이나 비친 자신의 왜곡된 형상을 확인하며 조명이나 보이는 각도에 따라 마치 작품하나하나가 자그마한 창처럼 변하여 금속의 물성을 이용하여 긁어내기도 가공하기도 하여 다양한 고민의 흔적을 표현하는 작업을 합니다.
그러면서 무거운 이야기지만 그속에 그위에 밝은 감정을 비록하여 다채로운 감정의 움직임을 표현 하여 누구나 희망이나 행복을 가질수 있도록 매개체 역할을 하는게 목표입니다.
저의 작업 역시 그안에서 희망과 행복을 찾으려 저희 흔적을 지우지만 희망과 행복의 칼라로 덮여져 있습니다.)
